A fatal stabbing incident unfolded on Wednesday, January 22, at JR Nagano Station in central Japan, leaving one man dead and two others injured. The attack, which took place around 8 p.m., targeted three individuals who were waiting at a bus stop outside the train station. Authorities have described the attack as apparently random.
The victims of this harrowing event included a man in his 30s who succumbed to his injuries. Another male victim, also in his 30s, sustained serious injuries during the assault. A woman in her 30s was also hurt in the attack. Emergency responders swiftly transported the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Witnesses described the suspect as a man in his 40s, of slim build, standing between 165cm and 175cm tall. He was seen wearing glasses and a white cloth over his head. Following the attack, the suspect fled southward into the downtown area of Nagano City, prompting an intense manhunt by local law enforcement.
