Digital Science acquires academic writing platform Jenni AI
The UK company plans to integrate its research data into Jenni AI, beginning with the Dimensions database of 171 million publications.

UK research technology company Digital Science has acquired the AI-powered academic writing platform Jenni AI. The product will keep its name and operate independently, retaining its team without changes to pricing or subscription plans.
Digital Science’s research data will be integrated into the platform over the coming months. The work will start with Dimensions, which holds 171 million publications, and draw on its full-text search functionality to support researchers finding, understanding and citing academic literature.
Stephen Leicht, chief executive of Digital Science, said the connection would make it possible to verify sources suggested by Jenni AI against Dimensions. He said researchers routinely use AI, but general-purpose tools cannot provide citations checked against the underlying papers.
Jenni AI supports tasks ranging from importing papers and reference collections to developing drafts and checking citations against original documents. The acquisition expands a Digital Science research software portfolio that includes Overleaf, ReadCube and Papers AI.
