Energy technology startup Linkener has secured €7.5 million to develop its energy management technology and support expansion, including acquisitions. The funding round was led by Klima Energy Transition Fund, the energy transition fund of Alantra.

Linkener plans to use the investment to advance its proprietary artificial intelligence models. It aims to combine AI and data analytics to automate the handling of energy data and bills, spot anomalies and find opportunities to reduce costs.

The company also intends to buy and integrate complementary businesses, products and capabilities. It says this would broaden its offering and strengthen both its technology and commercial operations, alongside supporting organic growth.

Its Intelligent Energy Management System (SIGE) uses proprietary remote metering to help organisations understand and manage energy use. Customers can monitor consumption, digitise and check bills, review supply contracts and receive recommendations and alerts about possible savings.

Linkener says it serves more than 2,000 customers and manages 10,000 energy supply points representing annual consumption of 1.7 TWh. Beyond its software platform, the company helps businesses carry out energy-saving projects and says it has completed over 400 solar and battery storage installations across Spain.
