Spain and Slovenia have until December to decide on Eurovision 2027
Broadcasters from 36 countries are set to participate in Burgas, Bulgaria, while Ireland, the Netherlands and Iceland will maintain their boycott.

Spain and Slovenia remain undecided about returning to Eurovision in 2027 following their boycott over Israel’s participation. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organises the competition, has set a December deadline for their broadcasters to confirm whether they will compete.
On 28 October, the EBU announced that broadcasters representing 36 countries would join the contest in May 2027 in Burgas, eastern Bulgaria. It said the additional time granted to Spain and Slovenia reflected the complexity of the issue.
Ireland, the Netherlands and Iceland will continue their boycott. All five countries stayed away from the 2026 competition because of Israel’s war in Gaza and the resulting humanitarian crisis.
The EBU revised its hosting rules earlier in 2026, barring countries engaged in armed conflict or other sensitive geopolitical situations from staging the event. Hosting duties normally fall to the country that wins the previous contest.
Canada will join Eurovision for the first time in 2027, and North Macedonia will compete again following an absence of four years. Czechia will sit out the competition for financial reasons.
