Plinto has raised €2.9 million from People Ventures and Emblem to develop its financial monitoring technology, win more enterprise customers and start entering international markets. The Copenhagen-based startup uses AI agents to detect transaction errors and help businesses resolve them.

The company was established in early 2025 by Jakob Nielsen, Nermina Suljevic and Sebastian Rehnby. Its platform connects to businesses’ existing software, banking systems and documents, as well as communication services including Slack and Microsoft Teams.

According to Plinto, the agents compare transactions with contractual terms, budgets and company policies, then investigate mismatches and gather evidence. They can ask suppliers to correct invoices, request credit notes and prepare adjustments for approval. Co-founder Nielsen said checking transactions against agreements and internal rules remained largely manual despite the systems businesses use to record payments.

Plinto has paying customers and pilots in logistics, property, facility services and food production. The company said its agents found around 430 discrepancies per month within one part of a customer’s operations. In a separate case, it said the platform caught a duplicate invoice bearing a different supplier name before another payment was made.

Suljevic, Plinto’s co-founder and CEO, said many customers operated with low margins and often discovered errors only after payment. The company aims to help larger businesses identify problems that can escape spot checks or month-end reviews.
