Angolan-Portuguese singer and rapper IAMDDB has accused Israel’s official government social media account of using her likeness without permission in an AI-generated video. In a statement, the Manchester-based musician said she had neither approved the use of her image nor contributed to the video or its message.

The clip, which has since been deleted, appeared on Israel’s official social media profiles. It showed a woman resembling the singer performing lyrics about Jewish origins and identity. Activist Rafael Shimunov highlighted the resemblance, pointing to a photograph from a 2018 shoot in which IAMDDB wore a similar outfit.

IAMDDB, whose real name is Diana Adelaide Rocha De Brito, said she was seeking advice and considering steps to safeguard her image, work and rights. She also expressed support for Palestinian people experiencing violence, displacement and loss, and said artists should determine how their identities and work are used.

The musician acknowledged having performed in Israel previously, but said her understanding of the situation had since changed. She said she would have decided differently with her current knowledge and that the performance did not signal approval of any government’s conduct.
