Lazzaro One raises pre-seed funds for maritime monitoring technology
B#, IBB Ventures’ pre-seed fund, has provided a six-figure investment as the Berlin start-up prepares to develop HUAX and expand its operations.

Maritime technology start-up Lazzaro One has obtained six-figure backing from B#, which operates as IBB Ventures’ pre-seed fund. The financing is intended to advance HUAX, its maritime intelligence platform, alongside the company’s technology and commercial activities.
Expansion plans include a larger role for the Berlin headquarters as the company’s primary technology development centre. Lazzaro One also intends to open a Maritime Intelligence Desk in Naples, supporting monitoring across the Mediterranean, and will add developers and specialist roles.
The company says HUAX brings together behavioural psychology, mathematical modelling and data analytics to interpret vessel movements and identify possible risks. Its approach examines patterns in both technical data and behaviour, seeking information useful for operational decisions rather than relying only on quantities of raw data.
Potential uses include detecting shadow fleets, whose vessels alter tracking systems to circumvent sanctions. HUAX is designed to assist insurers, shipping operators and security authorities in assessing risks. The platform also forecasts routes and analyses sea conditions.
Founded by Arsenio Longo with Maria Grazia Del Prete as co-founder, Lazzaro One intends to improve HUAX’s data processing. Its longer-term ambitions include a stronger shipping and defence presence and more customers in maritime industries and insurance.
