Lufthansa Group expands Japan services for summer 2027
Frankfurt–Nagoya flights will resume in March, alongside a new daily seasonal connection from Frankfurt to Tokyo-Narita.

Lufthansa Group will offer up to 50 weekly flights to Japan in summer 2027, with services reaching Tokyo-Haneda, Tokyo-Narita, Osaka and Nagoya. The expansion includes additional Lufthansa routes from Frankfurt and more SWISS flights from Zurich. The group’s airlines serving Japan also include Austrian Airlines and ITA Airways.
The seasonal Nagoya route will restart on 29 March 2027, with departures scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Travellers leaving Nagoya will have connections via Frankfurt to destinations in Europe and South America.
Lufthansa will launch its seasonal Frankfurt–Tokyo-Narita connection on 28 March 2027, operating daily. This adds to the airline’s existing daily Tokyo-Haneda services from both Frankfurt and Munich. SWISS will operate up to seven flights a week on its Zurich–Tokyo-Narita route during summer 2027.
Boeing 787-9 aircraft fitted with Lufthansa’s Allegris cabins will serve the Frankfurt routes to Nagoya and Narita. Each aircraft will have 28 seats in business class, 28 in premium economy and 231 in economy. Dieter Vranckx, the group’s chief commercial officer, said Japan was a key market and the additional capacity would broaden passengers’ travel options.
