Czechia pulls out of Eurovision 2027 over budget adjustments
Czech Television has given no timetable for a return to the competition, which will take place in Burgas, Bulgaria.

Czech Television has announced that Czechia will skip the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, attributing the withdrawal to continuing adjustments to its budget. The public broadcaster has not connected its decision to the dispute over Israel’s participation.
The broadcaster said it considers participation separately for each edition and would not speculate about a possible return. It also thanked Czech contestants and fans for their support in a message on X.
The decision follows boycotts of the 2026 competition by Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain over Israel’s involvement. Ireland has confirmed it will stay away again in 2027.
Irish national broadcaster RTÉ cited the continuing loss of life in Gaza and said it remained concerned about international journalists being denied independent access to the territory.
Spain has yet to decide whether to extend its boycott. RTVE president José Pablo López said he would recommend remaining outside the competition, citing Israel’s continued eligibility and the situation in Gaza.
The venue for the 2027 contest is Arena Burgas, in the Bulgarian city of Burgas.
