Emirates began flying between Dubai and Helsinki on 2 October, with an Airbus A350 operating the service each day throughout the year. The Finnish capital becomes another Nordic destination for the airline, alongside Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm.

The route preserves a direct connection for the winter while Finnair suspends its services between the two cities. Citing instability in the Middle East, Finnair cancelled flights for the period beginning 25 October 2026 and ending 27 March 2027. Emirates announced its plans in January; Finnair confirmed its suspension in August.

Emirates said it was running at around 93 per cent of its capacity before the disruption. More than 8.6 million passengers travelled with the Dubai-based carrier during July and August, and the airline said summer demand had surpassed its expectations.

The airline also said bookings were developing positively for the winter season starting in late October, although customers were booking nearer to departure. It identified Portugal, South Africa, Brazil, India and Saudi Arabia among markets where demand was above last year's level.

Further network changes include planned second daily flights serving Accra, Tokyo Narita, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Emirates will introduce A350 aircraft on services to Larnaca, Malta, Nairobi and Hamburg from late October, with Mauritius following in November.
