Swedish broadcaster TV4 has postponed The Challenge Sverige until 2027 after losing the reality programme’s completed season. The broadcaster attributed the loss to a technical failure, abandoning a premiere scheduled for 22 November.

TV4 said the footage recorded for the programme is still available, but editors will have to rebuild the season from scratch. The completed version could not be recovered, according to unnamed sources, who described the loss as hundreds of days of work.

Those sources alleged that the production company had allowed an AI agent onto its server and that it deleted the season. TV4’s news division initially repeated that account. However, Mia Lindqvist, the broadcaster’s head of programmes, subsequently denied that an AI agent had caused the loss.

The Challenge Sverige is a Swedish adaptation of the American programme The Challenge. Its format brings together physical tasks, tests of mental endurance and alliances between contestants.
